AUSTIN, Texas – Former Texas golfer Jhonattan Vegas (2004-07) won the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday after shooting a fourth-round 64 at Glen Abbey.

The win marked Vegas' second on the PGA Tour after earning a victory at the Bob Hope Classic in 2011.

Vegas earned $1,062,000, a spot in the PGA Championship next week at Baltusrol in New Jersey, a two-year tour exemption and a spot in the Masters in 2017.

STATEMENT FROM TEXAS HEAD COACH JOHN FIELDS

This is an emotional win for Pearl and me. We love the Vegas family, his extended family and his support group. The RBC Canadian Open has tremendous history. Jhonattan has come back from multiple injuries to become a multiple-time champion on the PGA Tour. The entire Longhorn Nation is so proud of our Longhorn Alumni and Jhonattan Vegas!
