Plenty of Texas exes are raring for a chance to play at the next level when the 2019 NFL Draft begins tonight in Nashville, Tenn.

With the NFL Draft scheduled for this weekend, a handful of former Longhorns are likely to wind up on a professional franchise by the end of the weekend, or at least by the start of training camp as an undrafted free agent.

Led by standout defensive end Charles Omenihu, linebacker Gary Johnson, cornerback Kris Boyd and wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey, 16 former Texas football players are once again on the verge of making an impact that will last in the NFL as many before them have done — and are still doing.

In fact, 341 former Longhorns have been selected in the NFL Draft throughout its history, which stands as the 11th most all-time for a collegiate program.

The draft kicks off at 7 p.m. on ABC, ESPN and the NFL Network with Day 2 beginning Friday at 6 p.m. covering rounds two and three.

Rounds 4-7 will take place Saturday starting at 11 a.m. on all the same networks.

Numerous mock drafts abound around the internet, with one released by Bleacher Report earlier slating six Texas players to be chosen during the draft. That of course, could change one way or the other as things get underway tonight.

According to their full seven-round mock draft, Omenihu would be the first Longhorn off the board in the third round, while Johnson, Boyd and Humphrey would go in the fourth round. The other ex-Texas football players they have being picked are defensive lineman Chris Nelson and tight end Andrew Beck in the seventh round.

The five other Longhorns projected to be picked are: defensive backs Davante Davis, Jarmarquis Durst and PJ Locke III, offensive linemen Calvin Anderson, Elijah Rodriguez and Patrick Vahe, defensive linemen Breckyn Hager and Chris Nelson, wide receiver Jerrod Heard, linebacker Anthony Wheeler and running back Tre Watson.
