WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 16

SERIES RECORD: Texas 23, Oklahoma State 4

LAST:  #12 Texas 41, Oklahoma State 36 (2012)

TEXAS ALWAYS KEEPS things entertaining against Oklahoma State, and this year should prove no different. The Longhorns will face an improved Cowboys squad many pundits picked  [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] to win the Big 12 title. This matchup could decide who sits in the driver’s seat as teams head down the homestretch of conference play.

Even without a clear-cut starter at quarterback, (the Cowboys started three last season and still averaged 547 yards a game), Oklahoma State will undoubtedly bring one of the most powerful offenses in the nation to Austin. Head coach Mike Gundy has also shown confidence in his defense, which returns seven starters and enough maturity to hold up against point-hungry Big 12 offenses. If the defense performs, the Cowboys could beat Texas on the road.

Jackson Jeffcoat and the Texas pass rush have to put the quarterback — whether it’s J.W. Walsh or Clint Chelf — on his back so he doesn’t find a rhythm.

This game could come down to the final minute, much like last year’s 41-36 Texas win. If that prediction comes to fruition, the Cowboys will sorely miss former clutch kicker Quinn Sharp and the Longhorns will have the advantage, regardless of which unit takes the field last.

DID YOU KNOW?

Pistol Pete, the Oklahoma State mascot, was inspired by deputy marshal and actual cowboy Frank Eaton. The school chose Eaton’s likeness after seeing him ride a horse in the 1923 Armistice Day parade in Stillwater.
