UT’s Connor Hendrickson Named Big 12 Runner of the Week

By Steve Lansdale
University of Texas sophomore finished first Friday to lead a Longhorn sweep of the top seven spots in the Texas Invitational, helping his team win the event over Texas State. For his performance, Hendrickson was named Monday as the first Big 12 Runner of the Week.
Hendrickson finished the 5,000-meter course in a winning time of 15:45.69 as one of three Longhorns — along with teammates Jacob Pickle and Brady Turnbull — who finished within a second of each other.
By sweeping the top seven spots in the event, Texas earned a perfect score of 15; the top five scorers from each team count toward the official scoring.
The conference Runner of the Week award is Hendrickson’s first, and the first for a UT runner since Robert Uhr won it last year when he finished first at the UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic.
The Longhorns will be back in action Sept. 26 when they compete at the Texas A&M Invitational.
