411OnTheForty: Brionne Butler named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

Brionne Butler's offense was solid in the Texas volleyball team's back-to-back wins over No. 3 Baylor, but it was her defense that stood out, and earned her the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Week Award.

Playing in the middle, Butler tallied 17 blocks and 21 kills in the two matches. Her .419 hitting percentage was the best on the team, and her 11 blocks in Friday's 3-2 win were a career high.

Butler told the media after Friday's victory that the Horns' main focus heading into the match was to "not take [Baylor] for granted" after the Longhorns beat the Lady Bears, 3-2, Thursday.

"We knew they were going to come out tougher in the second game, which they did, so I felt really good about how we responded," Butler said.

Texas is currently 12-0 on the season, and heads to Morgantown, W.Va., for two matches Thursday and Friday against West Virginia. Both will begin at 5 p.m. (Central time) and can be seen live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
