FORT WORTH, Texas — The Texas men's tennis team picked up 15 victories at the Bayard H. Friedman Center at the TCU Invitational over the weekend.

Freshman Micah Braswell picked up a singles victory on each of the three days of the tournament to earn a share of the singles championship. His 6-3, 6-2 win over Baylor's Charlie Broom Sunday was the Horns' only singles win of the day. His 3-0 singles record and 2-1 slate in doubles play gave him a team-high 14 points in the tournament.

In doubles, he teamed with Jacob Bullard to defeat Oklahoma's Matt Rodriguez and Justin Schlageter on Friday, but fell Saturday to Barnaby Smith and Pierce Rollins of Texas A&M.

Texas won three of four doubles matches on two of the three days of competition. Siem Woldeab and Payton Holden each went 3-0, as they teamed up for days one and two but split up and played with different partners day three.

Texas hits the court once again next weekend for the ITA Regional Championships, hosted by Baylor in Waco, Oct. 23-25.

Rapp joins UT coaching staff
Former ITA All-American Austin Rapp has joined the program as a volunteer assistant. Rapp starred at UCLA from 2015-18, earning numerous athletic and academic accolades as he lettered four years for the Bruins.

"We are very excited to have Austin on board," head coach Bruce Berque said. "He plans to have a long future in college coaching, and we are happy he will be starting his career as a Longhorn. Austin will make a significant positive difference to our team, and we are all looking forward to working with him."
