AUSTIN, Texas — After finishing the fall season ranked No. 1 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) rankings, the Texas volleyball team will return to the court this spring with a challenging, nine-match schedule.

The Longhorns are aiming to go undefeated in Big 12 action for the third time under head coach Jerritt Elliott.

UT will travel to UTSA Feb. 25 for a 2 p.m. match to kick off the spring slate. It will be the Longhorns' first non-conference game of the 2020-21 season.

Headlining the spring slate will be two matches against Baylor, a Big 12 rival currently ranked No. 5 by the AVCA. Texas comes in at No. 2, behind only Wisconsin, and received 10 first-place votes in the poll released Feb. 1. The Lady Bears will travel to Austin for a 7 p.m. (Central time) contest at the Frank Erwin Center March 3. The Longhorns will make the trip up IH-35 to Waco, where Baylor will host the Longhorns at 6 p.m. March 26. Neither match will count toward either team's conference record; when the two met in the fall, Texas won both matches, claiming a 3-2 victory each time.

The only two conference matches will come at the very end of the spring schedule, when TCU comes to Austin April 1-2 for a pair of 1 p.m. matches that were rescheduled by the Big 12 because of COVID-19.

The Horns also will face Texas State twice (March 8 and March 16) and also battle Texas A&M-Corpus Christi March 10. Rice will come to the Forty Acres March 23.
