The Texas volleyball program released its modified 2020 schedule Friday, adjusted to accommodate the cancellation of the fall NCAA championships and the Big 12 tournament.

The schedule features a conference-only slate, running over the course of eight weeks. The Longhorns will face each opponent twice on the same weekend, typically on back-to-back days, one of many unique features in this fall's schedule.

The volleyball version of the Red River Showdown will kick off the season for the Horns, as Texas travels to face Oklahoma Sept. 24 and 25.

For the first time in 23 years, UT will compete in volleyball in the spacious Frank Erwin Center, when the Longhorns return home to battle Kansas in the home-opening matches Oct. 1 and 2.

Texas will also host Iowa State, which was ranked third in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll the following weekend. Matches against Texas Tech and Baylor will also take place in Austin.

Baylor likely will be the most crucial matches of the entire slate, as the Lady Bears won the conference last fall with a 15-1 record in Big 12 play; their lone loss came against the Horns in Austin. Baylor has made the NCAA tournament in each of the last four seasons. Ranked No. 2 in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll, Baylor will give Texas plenty of competition in the final two home matches of the season Nov. 6 and 8.

The season concludes at West Virginia Nov. 12 and 13.
