Iowa State player ‘Smacks The Bull’
Remember the 2007 movie Wild Hogs starring John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence, William Macy, and Ray Liotta. In one of their comedic scenes, Tim Allen’s character (Doug) decided it would be fun to smack the bull after Travolta’s character (Woody) did.
Allen (Doug) walks up to the bull, who looks like a cousin of Bevo, or at least in the Bevo family line, and smacks the bull on his haunch. This did not workout so well for Doug, or Lawrence’s character Bobby as you will see shortly if you continue reading.
The week before Texas traveled to Ames, IA, Iowa State offensive lineman Jared Hufford shared his thoughts with Iowa State sports reporter Travis Hines and Hines posted the video on ‘X’. Hufford shared his toughts on the Texas football program and players that was equivalent to Allen (Doug) “Smacking The Bull!”
Here is what Hufford said about Texas coming to Ames, IA on Iowa State’s senior night for one last time before heading to the SEC.
First, on the Cyclone’s fans and crowd. For reference, Jack Trice Stadium holds 61,500. Let’s say it is really packed and they stuff 65,000 fans into the stadium. That would be great because fans are what make all sports better.
Texas, on a slow night, sees 102k+ fans at DKR where the noise level is so loud you cannot hear yourself talk. Texas has to shoot off a cannon to let everyone know Texas scored. It’s that loud.
So, 65k fans hoopin-n-hollerin will sound like classical music softly played while you’re sipping warm ice tea on the back porch as the sun is beginning to set and the crickets are starting to make some noise.
But that’s not what should be of concern. If any of the Longhorns players actually see the interview, that would not be good. Of what we know of the competitiveness of Jahdae Barron, Jaylon Ford, Jerrin Thompson, Michael Taaffe, Quinn Ewers, Jake Majors, Ja’Tavion Sanders, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Worthy, Savion Red, Christian Jones, or Gunnar Helm, seeing this video from the Iowa State player, and if they share the video with Ethan Burke, Barryn Sorrell, and (Heaven forbid) T’Vondre Sweat and Barryn Murphy, the game will not be close.
These players will take the comments personally, just as if someone told a “Your Momma” joke.
Initially, even before the season started, we thought Iowa State would be Texas’ hardest game, and also thought if Texas was to lose one game, it might be against Iowa State.
After seeing the video, and if the players get wind of the video, we will predict Texas over Iowa State by AT LEAST 20 points.
