SEC Championship goes to Georgia after 1OT 22-19

We could talk about stats but that would not honor the game. The facts are Georgia found a way to win, in overtime, again. They may be the defacto overtime team.

After Texas kicked a field goal in overtime to take the lead and all the Texas defense needed to do is what they always do, stop, I leaned over to my colleague and said, these are pretty good odds for Texas.

Texas defense made Georgia earn and pay for this win up until the very last play. Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton was attempting to run up the middle for a touchdown and was met by Andrew Mukuba who hit him so hart his helmet came off. A targeting call was made, but reversed after a review.

A second after the game the first thing I thought about Texas was, “If I was ever in a fight of my life, I would want to be on Texas’ team.”

Both offense and defense were unyielding. Ewers got sacked six times and yet brushed it off like it was noting. Matthew Golden led the team with eight receptions for 162 yards, DeAndre Moore Jr. pulled in nine catches for 114 yards and a touchdown.

Let’s mention Andrew Mukuba again. Mukuba lead the team with a total of 11 tackles of which 10 were solo. A baller!

Sarkisian said in the post game that he had a ton of respect for this team, for Georgia, coach Kirby Smart and was honored to play in this game.

Also saying this lose stings, Sarkisian said the team will get right back to work and focus on winning a National Championship.

Maybe the two teams will meet again in the CFP.
