AUSTIN, Texas — Four pitchers combined to toss a three-hit shutout to lead the Texas Softball team to a 6-0 victory against Temple College on Friday night at Red & Charline McCombs Field. The quartet of junior Gabby Smith, freshman Tiarra Davis, sophomore Holly Kern and freshman Lauren Slatten produced a total of six strikeouts against just two walks on the evening.

Kern and freshman Stephanie Wong each delivered two-run doubles in the bottom of the third, as Texas jumped out to a 4-0 lead. In the sixth, sophomore Stephanie Ceo added an RBI triple and scored on an error later in the inning.

The Longhorns drew six walks and recorded five stolen bases by five different players. Texas used a pre-set batting lineup and a predetermined pitching and defensive rotation for the eight-inning contest.

The Longhorns resume their fall schedule on Thursday, Oct. 10, when they host St. Edward’s University. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. Central at McCombs Field, and the game will be televised live by Longhorn Network.
