According to reports, four additional players dismissed at Texas

Amid reports that two University of Texas football players, Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander, were suspended following sexual assault charges, a new report via ESPN indicates an additional four players have been dismissed from the program for violating team rules.

According to ESPN, safety Josh Turner, running back Jalen Overstreet, defensive back Chevoski Collins, and senior running back Joe Bergeron were dismissed, yet media outlets are still awaiting an official statement from the University of Texas Athletic Department.

Turner, a senior safety, was projected by many to be a starter after suiting up for the Longhorns in 37 games and starting three games in 2013.

Overstreet, who many recall played backup quarterback before moving to running back, rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns as a reserve last season.

Bergeron, a senior running back, who, according to Strong “has done everything we’ve asked him to do,” became one of Texas’ go-to running backs last season, and tallied over 100 yards rushing in a game against Texas Tech.

Both Overstreet and Bergeron had previously been suspended for academic reasons.

Not including the suspensions of Sanders and Meander, this brings the total of players dismissed from Texas’ football program since Strong took the reins as head coach to six. Fullback Chet Moss and defensive back Leroy Scott were kicked off the team in March for a violation of team rules.
