“I want to say how excited I am to be working with Mack Brown. Somebody as classy, as ethical, and confident as he is for 16 great years here, many great seasons. And hopefully we get together to be able to work together for many years to come.” – Steve Patterson
“Mack and Sally Brown—two of my favorite people—what you’ve done at Texas is amazing. People do not think back to what was here when you came here and you’ve made it a better place. And you’ve done it with and integrity, you’ve done it with good kids. I’m so proud of the association.” – Deloss Dodds
“Mack and Sally, I’m so proud of you. The way you brought this team over obstacles. The way you — for so many years — the way you represent our university. The way you represent our university, the grade point average that was mentioned before. You two are the very best, and I’m proud to be your friend.” – UT President Bill Powers
Note: In Dodd’s he statements he said that the football team had the highest grade point average for the football team that they have ever had.
