ANGIE VAUGHN – TRACK (1995-1998)
AS A LONGHORN sprinter and hurdler, Angie Vaughn helped Texas earn seven top-three finishes at the NCAA Championships, including the indoor and outdoor national titles in 1998. Vaughn, a threetime NCAA Champion and seven-time All American, considers
her individual national championships in the hurdles as her biggest accomplishment while at Texas.

time of 7.41 seconds in the indoor 55-meter hurdles, she not only won the ‘98 indoor national championship, but Vaughn
also set a meet record that still stands today.
During her senior outdoor season, Vaughn never lost a 100-meter hurdles race, and became the first Texas athlete to win an NCAA title in the 100-meter hurdles. At the ‘98 Goodwill Games, she earned gold in the 100-meter hurdles and helped the U.S. 4×100-meter relay team win a gold medal. She graduated in ‘98 with a degree in marketing.
When inducted into the Texas Women’s Hall of Honor this fall she thanked track coach Bev Kearney for instilling a wealth of knowledge that applies both on and off the track. “One of the biggest things I learned was how to look at challenges and overcome obstacles,” Vaughn said. “In a 100-meter hurdle race you have to clear 10 hurdles, and you have to get over each one to win, and I can take that lesson and relate it to everything.”
As a campus recruiter for consulting firm Ernst and Young, Vaughn works across the country recruiting college students for internships, staff and senior positions. She currently resides in Atlanta with her two miniature pinschers, Rocky and Apollo. In her free time, Vaughn enjoys spending time with friends, going to concerts and checking out new restaurants.
