DALLAS, Texas — From rival Austin high schools to teammates boosting Texas back to its best.

Thanks to former Lake Travis kicker Cameron Dicker plus ex-Westlake quarterback Sam Ehlinger, the Horns have the upper hand once again over arch-nemesis Oklahoma.

Dicker the Kicker, as the catchy moniker has come to be known, booted through the game-winning field goal to give Texas an exhilarating 48-45 victory over the Sooners.

As the time tick-tocked down Saturday at the Cotton Bowl, Dicker calmly kicked through a 40-yard field goal with nine seconds left to send Texas and its fans into a frenzy of screaming Hook’Em with their Horns up.

Helming the Horns to a season-high point total, Ehlinger churned out huge play after play with his arms and legs. The sophomore signal caller tossed two touchdowns and ran for three more scores for the Longhorns, executing at a elite level.

Even as Oklahoma threatened down the stretch, Ehlinger calmly guided Texas down the field while draining plenty of clock to set Dicker up for the game-winner.

For the first time in a while, the Horns infusion of outstanding local talent has them looking like a contender once again.
