AUSTIN — What a difference a year makes.

In the case of Texas left tackle Connor Williams, the difference is a jump from the second-team All-America honor he got at the end of last season from the Associated Press to a spot on first-team preseason All-America honors from the AP this year.

In addition to his second-team AP honor last year, the junior from Coppell, Texas also received first-team All-America nods from the Football Writers Associated of America (FWAA), USA Today and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He also was voted first-team All-Big 12 by the AP and the conference’s coaches.

Williams has started all 23 games in his first two seasons at UT. He begins the 2017 season as a member of the watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Outland Trophy and The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, and previously earned preseason All-America recognition from Sporting News, College Football News and Athlon Sports.
