David Ash will not play next weekend as the Texas Longhorns take on TCU. [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] The junior quarterback is making progress from a head injury he suffered earlier in the season, but he is still dealing with some of the lingering effects, according to Texas football’s official Twitter feed. Look for Case McCoy to make the start once again.
Ash last played against Kansas State on Sept. 21. He also missed the Ole Miss game the week before. While Ash was playing well at the time of his injury, McCoy has stepped up in a big way and continues to play well for the Longhorns. While appearing in every game for Texas in some capacity, McCoy has thrown for 764 yards, four touchdowns and and just one interception. He is also completing 61 percent of his pass attempts, and the Longhorns are 2-1 in games he’s started.
It’s unclear if Ash will return to the field this season. It seem like he is progressing from the head injury, though with concussion safety at an all-time high, the training staff will continue to take every precaution with him moving forward.
