AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas running backs unit was bolstered Sunday evening when former Alabama running back Keilan Robinson announced on social media his intent to transfer and follow his former Bama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian to the Forty Acres.

The 5-foot-9, 190-pound Robinson entered his name into the transfer portal early last week and becomes the second member of the Crimson Tide to transfer to Texas this offseason; the first was linebacker Ben Davis, who announced his destination April 26.

Robinson opted out of the 2020 season after a freshman campaign in 2019 in which he played in eight games. He heads to Austin with three years of eligibility remaining.

During his lone season, he tallied 254 yards on 39 carries, and scored two touchdowns for the Crimson Tide. The highlight of his freshman year was a 74-yard touchdown run against New Mexico State in the second game of the season.

He returned to the team this spring, before putting his name into the transfer portal. Alabama head coach Nick Saban said of Robinson this spring that "he’s got great speed. He’s gotten bigger and stronger. He’s really playing fast."

The Washington, D.C., native was a four-star recruit in 2019. He was the nation’s No. 15 running back and 244th overall prospect that cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite.
