Texas Goalkeeper Abby Smith will play with the US U-23 Team at Six Nations Tournament

AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas sophomore goalkeeper Abby Smith is one of 20 players selected for the United States Under-23 Women’s National Team that will open its 2014 campaign with a trip to La Manga, Spain, for the Six Nations Tournament on Feb. 24-March 6. Smith is one of just two goalkeepers chosen to the prestigious team.

2023 Texas Longhorns Football Season Tickets

Smith continues to build on her national team experience. Last March, she helped the Under-23 WNT sweep the competition at the 2013 Four Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain. Her shutout victory against Sweden and her three-save performance against England allowed the USA squad to claim the title. The Four Nations championship was the second straight international event that Smith helped the United States win, following the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan in the fall of 2012.
