47 days until the 2013-2014 Texas Football Season kicks off against New Mexico State!
The Longhorns are down to four scholarship quarterbacks (David Ash, Case McCoy, Tyrone Swoopes, Jalen Overstreet) after redshirt freshman Conner Brewer elected to transfer from the Texas program on Tuesday. Brewer was given an unconditional release and has already received interest from several top college programs around the nation.
Golf
Former Longhorn golfer Jordan Spieth won the 2013 John Deere Classic. Spieth, 19, is the first teenager to win on the PGA tour since 1931. Spieth won the event after a five-hole playoff crowned him the winner.
Baseball
Texas outfielder Mark Payton announced he would return for his senior season at Texas after turning down a major league contract with the Cleveland Indians on Friday. Payton was selected in the 16th round by the Indians back in June. Payton was a unanimous first-team All-Big 12 selection last season and holds a .319 career batting average.
