Football

Swimming

Former Longhorn Michael McBroom qualified for a second event at next month’s World Championships. McBroom broke a U.S. Open record Saturday on the final day of the Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championships Trials. McBroom placed second in the 800m freestyle with a time of  7 minutes, 47.13 seconds. He qualified in the 1500m freestyle earlier in the week in Indianapolis.

McBroom will represent the U.S. at the FINA World Championships set for July 28-Aug. 4 in Barcelona, Spain.

Texas Athletics

Texas finished in 13th place in the final 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division I standings on Thursday with 966.75 points.

"The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports - 10 women's and 10 men's. Texas scored in seven men's sports and eight women's sports during the 2012-13 season." (TexasSports.com)

Texas placed 6th in the 2011-2012 Learfield Sport Directors' Cup Division I standings.

Texas recorded Top Five NCAA performances in women's volleyball, softball, men's golf, and men's swimming and diving.

Stanford won the Cup with 1,261.25 points.
