The Horns Illustrated Week in Review covers all the University of Texas sporting events that took place this past week

Football

The University of Texas Longhorn Football team upset the Oklahoma Sooners 36-20 in the Red River Rivalry in Dallas on Saturday. Texas had two 100-yard rushers for the first time against the Sooners in history. Johnathan Gray finished with 128 yards on 29 attempts, while Malcolm Brown finished with 120 yards on 23 carries.Daje Johnson returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown in the game as well.

Senior Case McCoy got the start against the Sooners and went 13 for 21 passing for 190 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw an interception. The touchdown passes McCoy threw to Marcus Johnson and Mike Davis were perfect throws under pressure and two of the best passes of his career.

Senior defensive tackle Chris Whaley earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting a pass from Oklahoma quarterback Blake Bell and returning it 31 yards for a touchdown.

Texas has a bye week before they play TCU in Fort Worth on Oct. 26.

Volleyball

The Texas Volleyball team remains undefeated in Big 12 play after picking up wins against Kansas (3-1) and Texas Tech (3-0) this week.

Against Kansas the Longhorns took the first set 25-17, but dropped the second set in a close 26-24 Jayhawk rally. Texas won win the next two sets 25-20 and 25-15.

Bailey Webster led the Longhorns with a match-high 20 kills. Sarah Palmer had 11 digs, while Hannah Allison finished with 41 assists. Molly McCage led with 10 blocks for Texas.

The Longhorns return to action against Iowa State in a Big 12 conference game at 6:30 p.m.

Soccer

Two second half goals by Sharis Lachappelle lifted the Longhorns over the Baylor Bears on Friday. Baylor scored in the 87th minute, but Texas was able to hang on to defeat the 23rd ranked team from Waco in Big 12 play.

It was Lachappelle's fourth goal of the season.

The Longhorns return to action on Friday against Oklahoma State in Stillwater.
