Senior forward #23 Christian Bishop reached 1,000-career points while posting the team high 16 points.
AUSTIN, Texas - No. 2 Texas Men's Basketball double-scores Arkansas - Pine Bluff 88-43 at the Moody Center in the Jimmy Blacklock Classic. Before the game and during half-time Texas honored Blacklock, a Longhorns scholarship player who lead his team in scoring, was the team's MVP in 1970-71, and was the team captain in 1971-72 when the Longhorns won the Southwest Conference title and went on to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
Jimmy Blacklock played for the Harlem Globetrotters after college and would carry on his legacy of greatness as their point guard. Blacklock played in over 2,500 games and traveled the world for the Ambassadors of Goodwill, was the recipient of the 33rd Globetrotter Legend ring for his contributions to the Harlem Globetrotters humanitarian mission. In 2011, Blacklock became the head coach of the Globetrotters.
The game gave Texas a chance to recover from their first loss against Illinois four days earlier. Over half the points (49) came from the Texas bench and the team was hitting 60% from the field goals while turning over the ball only nine times.
Bishop lead the team in scoring with 16 followed by Brock Cunningham hitting a career high 13 points, Dillon Mitchell also hit a season high 13 points, while the usual high scorers Marcus Carr scored nine points and Tyrese Hunter hit seven points.
Texas is undefeated at the Moody Center and will host Rice next Dec. 12 (Mon) because their big match with Stanford that will be played in Dallas at the American Airline Center Dec. 18 (Sun).
