Joyner Holmes finds second WNBA landing spot in New York

For the second time in three months, Joyner Holmes has signed a WNBA contract.
After being selected in the 2020 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm, Holmes was cut, although she never even got the chance to practice with the team. But the 6-foot-3-inch Holmes was not out of work for long, signing a new deal with the New York Liberty.

Multiple experts have labeled New York as one of the "dark horse" teams this season, thanks to a roster built on young talent and draft picks, including three-time Pac-12 Player of the Year and 2020 No. 1 overall pick Sabrina Ionescu. The former Oregon star and Holmes are two of the seven rookies on New York's 12-player roster.
During the WNBA's offseason, Holmes also will play professionally overseas for the Isreali team, Maccabi Raanana.
Despite missing the majority of her sophomore season, Holmes was a standout for UT, where she set a program record by posting a double-double in seven straight games. Over four years in Austin, she averaged 11.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
She came up clutch in the upset of No. 1 Stanford in December when she intercepted a Stanford inbounds pass and took it to the hoop, sealing the 69-64 win for the Horns.
