Kacy Clemens pitchingAMONG THE 10 players signed by the Texas baseball team, two names appear on the roster that may ring a bell for folks around the 40 Acres. Right-handed pitcher Kacy Clemens , from Houston Memorial, is the son of Roger. Lukas Schiraldi, a right-handed pitcher from Navarro Junior College, is the son of Calvin.

played on the Longhorns’ 1983 national championship team. Clemens was the No. 19 draft pick, and went on to win the ’86 AL MVP, 354 games and to play in 11 All-Star games. Schiraldi was drafted by the New York Mets. He finished his eight-year career with a 32-39 record.

“We want good baseball players,” assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Tommy Nicholson said. “I don’t get caught up in rankings. For us, it’s about bringing in guys with good attitudes who know how to play the game, along with having room to grow as a person.”
