Men’s basketball adds former Vanderbilt forward Dylan Disu
AUSTIN, Texas — Dylan Disu is returning to his roots.
While with the Commodores, Disu led the Southeastern Conference in rebounding, averaging 9.2 boards per game. He also averaged 15 points per game, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks. Disu's freshman year in Nashville came to an abrupt close when he was forced to miss the final weeks of the season after undergoing surgery to repair the meniscus in his knee.
He becomes the third player, along with Utah's Timmy Allen and Creighton's Christian Bishop, to declare his intention the UT frontcourt under new coach Chris Beard, who also has received a commitment from former Kentucky guard Devin Askew.
Forward Kai Jones has entered his name into the NBA Draft; the futures of Greg Brown and Jericho Sims remain unclear. Forward Brock Cunningham is returning, as are guards Jase Febres and Andrew Jones. Forward Jaylon Tyson is the Horns' only signee.
Disu played his high school career at Pflugerville's Hendrickson High School, where he was ranked No. 128 in the Class of 2019 by Rivals.com.
Football transfers
The football team added to its linebacker unit Monday with the announcements that Ben Davis and Devin Richardson intend to join the Longhorns.
Davis, a graduate transfer from Alabama, tallied only three tackles last year but began his collegiate career as the top-ranked inside linebacker in the Class of 2016. He switched to outside linebacker after redshirting in his first year with the Crimson Tide.
Richardson, of Klein, Texas, comes to Texas by way of New Mexico State, where he played three seasons. This past year, he struggled to see the field, tallying just eight tackles, three of them solo. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
