AUSTIN, Texas — Coach Chris Beard, after No. 17 Texas beat Incarnate Word 78-33 Tuesday evening at the Erwin Center, surprised Longhorns fans with a bribe of sorts.

Beard understands what winning basketball looks like. You have to have great players and you have to have a home court advantage. This means, when teams come to Austin, they are playing five against six. Texas’ sixth player are the fans in the stands. Texas Volleyball understands what packing out Gregory Gym does for the team.

We asked coach Beard what does it mean to the players when the arena is so packed and loud they cannot hear each other on the court?

Beard said, “It means you have a home court advantage and it means you have a chance to win a championship because if you don’t have a home court advantage you’ve got no chance.”

Coach Beard said he and Tre Mitchell have been working on this since the summer. Mimosas.

Beard says, “Tre do you know how to spell mimosa?” Tre responds in his soft voice with a chuckle, “m-i-m-o-s-a.” Beard, "Tre have you ever had a mimosa?" Tre, "Yes, one."

Coach invites, Longhorns fans, Texas basketball fans, and anyone who would like to attend, for the price of a ticket ($10) you will get to enjoy a great game and a mimosa on the house.

Second is to be respectful of others and for the opportunity to tell a positive story about all of the Texas Longhorns teams, players, and coaches regardless of their record.
