Texas Longhorns continue their efficient play in all phases of the game on their way to putting up 497 yards of total offense. Of the 13 drives Texas ran, seven resulted in a touchdown.
It was serendipitous that Arch Manning made his first career start 56 years to the day from when his grandfather Archie Manning made his first career college start at Ole Miss.
ESPN compared the four Manning quarterbacks (Arch, Peyton, Eli, Arch) starting game states.
Just to keep Arch Manning humble, his uncles Peyton and Eli likely won’t let Arch forget his very first drive that ended in an interception after seven plays and 29 yards.
Manning passing was sublime going 15-29 for 258 yards and two touchdowns. Most of those passing yards came from eight big plays where three of those plays Manning connected with Isaiah Bond in stride for 56 yards, with Matthew Golden for 46 yards, and Ryan Wingo for 17 yards that resulted in a Texas touchdown.
Let’s talk rushing. Jaydon Blue rushed for 124 yards on 25 carries and scored three touchdowns rushing and one receiving.
Junior #27 Colin Page rushed for 60 yards on 10 carries, three carries where first down runs.
Freshman #9 Jerrick Gibson rushed nine time and punched one in from two yards for a touchdown.
Texas got into the red zone seven times and scored seven times.
The Texas defense was maniacal as they held ULM to 111 total yards. Simply dastardly!
ULM rushed the ball 25 times gained a total of 57 yards with an average 2.2 yards per play of 2.2 compared to Texas’ 6.1 yards per play.
Texas fans continue to pack out DKR with 102,850 fans in attendance for the game. By the way, many folks are unaware that one of the reasons that Texas was accepted into the SEC was because of the atmosphere the fans bring to DKR on game day.
Now the fun begins. Texas first SEC opponent Mississippi State will give Texas their first taste of SEC style of football as they try to break up the Texas winning streak of four straight on Sat. 9/28 at 3:15pm. Then comes Oklahoma and the biggest game in all football this season, Georgia is coming to Texas.
