No. 16 Texas Baseball takes series 2-1 against San Diego in opening weekend

Texas baseball fans have been eagerly waiting the start of baseball season and it arrived with a bang. A GRAND SLAM homerun from Texas shortstop from San Antonio Texas, #1 Jalin Flores in the bottom of the sixth inning of the first game. Texas took the first game 7-3, dropped the second 6-5, and had a productive third game winning 9-4 scoring in five of the eight innings at bat.

Lebarron Johnson pitched the first game, went five innings, threw 76 pitches, struck out six, gave up five hits and two runs. Jared Thomas started at first base. For all the wonderment in preseason, it was Thomas who protected first. For the entire series, Texas gave 14 pitches a workout.

In the first series, Jared Thomas had six hits, and scored seven runs. Peyton Powell in 13 at bats also had six hits, a triple, homerun, and seven RBI.

And the hits just keep on coming. Texas fans packed Disch-Falk field for opening weekend setting an attendance record for opening weekend with 22,802 fans.

Texas will host Houston Christian on Feb 20 (Tue) at UFCU Disch-Falk Field starting at 6:30 pm.
