With the loss, Texas has[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] fell to 4-3-0 this season, while Monmouth improved its season record to 2-2-2.

The Longhorns played without their third-leading scorer, forward Cyera Hintzen, who was held out of the game “as a precaution” after a collision in Friday’s win over Washington.

Monmouth outshot Texas, 12-11, and converted half of its eight shots on goal into scores, each of which was the first tally of the season for the player who scored. The Longhorns were limited to four shots on goal.

Dana Scheriff gave the Hawks what turned out to be the only goal they would need when she converted a crossing pass from Sarina Jones from about six yards out in the sixth minute of the game. Lexie Palladino doubled her team’s lead in the 18thminute when she headed in a shot from about 12 yards out off assists by Lauren Karabin and Madie Gibson. Monmouth took a 3-0 lead in to the locker room at halftime when A’Liah Moore volleyed in a cross from Gibson in the 26thminute.

The Hawks got the final goal of the game in the 84thminute when Gibson scored from 10 yards out.

The loss ended UT’s streak of regular-season non-conference home victories at 18; the Longhorns’ last home loss was Sept. 4, 2016.

Texas returns to action at 7 p.m. Thursday at home against Providence in a game that can be seen on the Longhorn Network.
