No. 8 UT men’s golf knocks off Kansas State 3-2-1

AUSTIN, Texas — Senior Steven Chervony and freshmen Pierceson Coody and Parker Coody all earned victories to lead the No. 8 Texas men’s golf team to a 3-2-1 victory over Kansas State Saturday at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament in Austin.

Chervony knocked off Kansas State’s Roland Massimo 4&2, Pierceson Coody beat KSU’s Will Hopkins, 4&2, and Parker Coody took down Ben Fernandez, 3&2.

Texas junior Spencer Soosman finished even against K-State’s Jeremy Gandon; sophomores Drew Jones and Christoffer Bring both lost their matches.

The Longhorns will face the Oklahoma Sooners in the morning match play Sunday.
