while running more than 30 seconds ahead of the other competitors, race officials had her turn around to repeat some of the second loop, thinking she made a wrong turn. Hall still managed to win the race by 10 seconds. Mojtabaeezamani finished in 18:34.58 and Sutherland recorded a time of 18:43.43.
“Marielle crushed it today,” coach Steve Sisson said. “She’s in a good strength place, and we have a number of girls who are in that ballpark and just need to execute on race day.” Steady rain created challenging course conditions throughout the meet.
In addition to Hall, Mojtabaeezamani and Sutherland, placing for Texas were Anne Jones (fifth, 18:54.53) and Brittany Marches (seventh, 19:05.29).
