Reports: Texas Longhorns AD Steve Patterson Sets Deadline for Coaching Hire

StevePattersonCoachSearchInsider

The Mack Brown era officially came to an end last night after a loss to #10 Oregon in the Alamo Bowl. While it may have been a unceremonious end to a historic career, the loss does absolutely nothing to tarnish Mack Browns legacy. In every game there is a winner and loser … that is just the way the cookie crumbles. We here at Horns Illustrated extend out best wishes to Coach Brown as he transitions to a new phase in his life outside of football.

Still, the show must go on. The Texas Longhorns have one of the most coveted seats in all of college football available, and are looking for a coach to come in and reenergize the program. According to Max Olson of ESPN.com, Steve Patterson plans to[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] fill that head coaching position by January 15th.

The Bleacher Report writes…

“The clock is now officially on for the Longhorns in regard to finding a new head coach. Rumors are going to be flying off the walls as coaching changes begin to happen in the NFL and as bowl games in the NCAA start coming to an end.

Is a guy like Nick Saban of Alabama still in play? College football analyst Paul Finebaum cites Chuck Carlton of The Dallas Morning News as having a source who believes Saban could still make his way to the Longhorns’ campus.”

We have already seen coach Jimbo Fisher ink a new deal with Florida State … The next few week will be very interesting. The Horns Illustrated staff will be right on top of all the news and updates.
