THE TWO-YEAR starter from Lufkin is a lockdown member of the secondary. Byndom has served as a solid, somewhat hushed, stalwart [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] at cornerback with his coverage prowess. He’s appeared in 38 games with 26 consecutive starts, tying for second on the team behind Mason Walters (38).

He’s a quick-change player, returning two of his five career interceptions for touchdowns, becoming one of eight players in school history with two or more return touchdowns in a career. Byndom was named to the 2012 Bronko Nagurski Trophy and CFPA Defensive Back Trophy watch lists and was first-team All-Big 12 in 2011.

In 2012, Byndom started at cornerback in all 13 games and tied for fourth on the team with 39 solo tackles. He was also second on the team in interceptions (three) and in passes broken up (six) and was tied for the team lead with two blocked kicks.

Byndom is one of the Longhorns’ defensive cornerstones. He’s a great athlete with good size (6’1”, 180 pounds) who has all the skills to be a productive cornerback at the highest level — including in the NFL if he can make a few more game-changing plays.
