ONE OF THE Longhorns’ leaders on and off the field, Walters has started the last 38 games (the longest streak on the team) at right guard and has played in 39 contests. [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] He was a 2012 honorable mention All-Big 12 selection and was named to the 2012 Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award watch lists.

After the 2012 season, Walters shared the team’s D.X. Bible Most Spirited Offensive Player Award with Jeremy Hills, Case McCoy and Luke Poehlmann. He also captured the D. Harold Byrd Offensive Tenacity Award for the second straight year. He shared the team’s Dr. Nasser Al-Rashid Strength & Conditioning Award with Jordan Hicks and Desmond Jackson.

What makes Walters stand out is that he has mobility and flat-out athletic ability. The coaches put those to the test in the Longhorns’ scheme, which is heavy on movement and calls for linemen to pull and block on the outside.

Walters is already among the top 20 on CBSSports.com’s list of top offensive guards heading into the 2014 NFL Draft.
