THE WELL-SPOKEN Hopkins has played in 37 games, including starts in the last 29 (16 at left guard and 13 at right tackle). He started the first 12 games at left guard last season but missed the Alamo Bowl due to injury. [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] Hopkins, at 6’4” and 300 pounds, was a second-team All-Big 12 choice by the league’s coaches.

He must improve his lateral movement, although he has made strides in getting to the second level to block linebackers when needed. The Longhorns will continue to ask Hopkins to lead the way on screens and counters with a pulling block.

Hopkins will return at left guard when fall practice opens but there is a good chance he will change positions if the anticipated shakeup of the Texas offensive line occurs.
