AUSTIN, Texas – Fresh off winning the Big 12 Tournament Sunday afternoon, the Texas baseball team discovered its postseason destination as the NCAA unveiled its 64-team tournament field Monday morning on ESPNU.

The Longhorns were awarded the No. 3 seed in the Dallas Regional hosted by Dallas Baptist, where the Patriots are the No. 1 seed, Oregon State No. 2 and No. 4 Virginia Commonwealth are also in the region.

Texas will open double elimination play Friday May 29 against the Beavers (38-16-1) at 1:30 p.m.

Fans interested in purchasing tickets should go through the Dallas Baptist athletics department as tickets will not be available through the Texas athletics department.

The Longhorns are making their 57th appearance in an NCAA Regional, most by any school in Division I. Texas is making its 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament under head coach Augie Garrido, having advanced to nine Super Regionals and to the College World Series eight times (2000, 2002-05, 2009, 2011, 2014).

Last season UT entered the Houston Regional hosted by Rice as the No. 2 seed and went on a run all the way to a tie for third place finish in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

Texas has met Oregon State just one time in program history, winning 10-1 in the College World Series on June 13, 1952. The Horns are 46-7 all-time vs. Dallas Baptist, with all 53 meetings coming in Austin and 8-1 vs. VCU with all matches coming at home as well, including a 3-1 mark against the Rams in the 1992 Austin Regional.

The winner of the Dallas Regional will go on to face the winner of the Miami (FL) Regional. Miami (FL), East Carolina, Columbia and Florida International make up the four teams in that region.
