Texas Baseball – Eleven Longhorns named to 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team
IRVING, Texas – A total of 65 Big 12 student-athletes were named to the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team, with Texas Baseball placing a program-best 11 players on the team.
Eight Longhorns earned first team honors, including senior Jacob Felts who became a three-time first team honoree. Texas and Kansas State's 11 honorees tied for the second most behind Baylor which had 12.
Texas' 11 selections marked a program-high, topping 1997 and 2012 when nine Longhorns landed on the team. The eight first team choices also marked a program best, topping the previous high of six in 2008 and 2013.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
