
Everyone predicted Texas was going to beat Oklahoma by at least 14-points just like Alabama was supposed to beat Texas last year by the same.
Red River Rivalry – Named Appropriately!
Texas leading rusher Jonathan Brooks carried the ball 22 times for 129 yards and a touchdown. Quinn Ewers threw for 346 yards going 31-37 in the game that included a touchdown, however started the game with an immediate interception in the second play of the game followed by another interception on the following drive.

Compared with Oklahoma’s quarterback Dillion Gabriel who racked up 113 yards rushing in 14 carries, plus 285 yards passing and a touchdown.
Jordan Whittington came alive with 10 catches for 115 yards while Xavier Worthy snags eight balls for 108 yards.
In the first half, Texas looked like their shoelaces were untied and they were tripping over their own ankles. Texas had nine penalties taking away 70 yards.
In the second, their usual come alive half, started to gain some traction and had moments of sparks, but only enough to tie the score.
In their first drive coming out of the half, Texas had a fumble followed by a field goal, then a turnover on downs. Normally, Texas puts up 4-5 touchdowns per game, but were held to two touchdowns the entire game.
The first was a 22-yard pass to an open Gunnar Helm as he found the end zone. The second was a 29-yards run from Jonathon Brooks in the first drive of the fourth quarter.

Texas hands the Golden Hat back to Oklahoma and falls under Oklahoma in the Big 12 standings, likely falling from the Top 3 spot in the AP Top 25 Polls as well.
Texas did not play their normal game and there seems to be no evidence that Oklahoma was the cause. Texas jogged out of the tunnel this morning and could not match Oklahoma’s energy.
Texas has a week off before traveling to Houston for another Big 12 game.
