Texas Football Proved Worthy In Win Over WvU 38-20

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Football showed WVU their mettle winning 38-20. Texas resembled the same Texas offense and defense that played Alabama in week 2. DKR was electric with 100,740 fans on a cool Texas night. 

Texas had 60 plays over 10 drives, five touchdowns and one field goal from Bert Auburn from 45 yards. The Texas offense produced 446 total yards, 336 passing, and 110 rushing. Hudson Card threw 21-27 for 303 yards, three touchdowns, and had a rating of 208.7 with 78% pass completion.

Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy caught 7 passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns, plus he threw a 33 yard touchdown to Ja’Tavion Sanders that put Texas up 14-0 in the first quarter. Worthy’s career passing stats are 1-1 for 33 yards, 100% completion, and a 707.2 quarterback rating.

Makes you wonder what other plays Sarkisian and company had in their playbook that would cause everyone to think, “Wow, I did not see that coming, nor did I expect, ever!”

The first half may have been perfect football for Texas. Texas had six drives resulting in four touchdowns. With the exception of the drive that resulted in a punt, Texas touchdowns resulted with almost the same plays/yards: 7/60, 6/74, 6/71, 6/87.

Texas’ defense played strong, fast, and menacing. In the first half the Texas defense forced WVU to punt four times on six drives, allowing one WVU touchdown with just 0:13 before the half. In the second half, on WVU's eighth drive, Texas made them run 18 plays for 65 yards finally resulting in a WVU touchdown.

Bijan Robinson finished the game with 135 total yards (101 rushing, and one touchdown. Ja’Tavion Sanders had 78 total yards on five catches and two touchdowns. Jordan Whittington, always an offensive threat, had three catches for 58 yards. 

Now, Texas will prepare for the Red River Showdown at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas Oct. 8 11 a.m.
