• Thursday's contest marks the 31st meeting between Texas and Iowa State.

UT owns a 17-13 advantage in the all-time series which dates back to a 101-87 Iowa State win in Tempe, Ariz., on Dec. 21, 1966.

The Horns are 15-8 against Iowa State during the Rick Barnes era entering Thursday's game.

Texas has won 11 of the last 16 meetings between the two teams.

UT is 2-0 against Iowa State at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. The Horns won 82-75 in the 2010 first round and posted a 71-65 victory in the 2012 quarterfinals.

• Success in the Big 12 Quarters: UT enters Thursday's game against Iowa State with a 12-3 mark in Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship quarterfinal games during the Rick Barnes era. Texas has reached at least the semifinal round of the Big 12 Championship in 12 of its first 16 trips under Barnes.

• Horns Reach 20 Wins, Again: With last night's win against Texas Tech, the Longhorns reached the 20-win mark for the 15th time in 17 seasons under coach Rick Barnes.

• Taylor Getting the Point: Sophomore point guard Isaiah Taylor posted 12 points along with seven assists against just two turnovers in 35 minutes during last night's win against Texas Tech. Taylor has recorded at least five assists in six of the last seven games entering Thursday's contest.

Texas Tech Postgame Notes

The Horns improved to 4-1 in Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship First Round games in the Rick Barnes era.

UT has won 14 of the last 15 and 20 of the last 22 meetings against Texas Tech (82-54 lead in the all-time series). Texas improved to 33-4 against Texas Tech in the Barnes era.

Texas improved to 149-22 against in-state foes during the Barnes era.

UT posted a +15 rebound margin (39-24), including a 17-7 advantage on the offensive glass. The Horns registered an 18-3 advantage in second-chance points.

The Horns registered 17 assists (on 25 made field goals) against just nine turnovers during the win.

Texas set a team season high with eight steals.

Demarcus Holland reached double figures in scoring (team-high 12 points) the 11th time this season (fourth straight game) and the 22nd time in his career (100 games).

Connor Lammert led the team in rebounds (9) for the seventh time this year.

Cameron Ridley reached double figures in scoring (team-high 14 points) for the 10th time this year (first since Feb. 11 vs. TCU, span of seven games) and 32nd time in his career (100 games).

Isaiah Taylor reached double figures in scoring (12 points) for the 15th time this season (22 games) and 42nd time in his career (57 games).

Kendal Yancy reached double figures in scoring (13 points) for the eighth time this season (fifth time in last seven games) and 11th time in his career (66 games).

Improving 'D' Recently

In their last three games (3-0 record), the Longhorns have held their opponents to an average of 53.7 points per game on a combined 38.4% FG shooting (63-of-164).

Yancy Stepping Up

Sophomore guard Kendal Yancy has played in 66 career games (26 starts). In his career, he has reached double figures in scoring 11 times.

Yancy ranks in fourth on the team in assists (58) this season.

He has averaged 28.7 minutes per contest over the last 11 games and has started each of the last 10 contests.

Yancy registered 13 points (5-of-9 FG) and five assists without a turnover in 33 minutes during last night's win against Texas Tech.

He has reached double figures in scoring in five of the last seven games. During this seven-game stretch, he has averaged 12.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per contest while hitting 14-of-40 (.350) from three-point range.
