Texas Men’s Golf: Ghim, Scheffler named to All-Freshman Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Freshmen Doug Ghim and Scottie Scheffler are two of five freshmen golfers from around the country to be named to the Division I All-Freshmen Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Tuesday.

Previously named the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Scheffler won back-to-back tournaments after claiming medalist honors at the Western Intercollegiate and Big 12 Championship. He recorded an additional five top-10 finishes on the season. He led the Longhorns with 21 under-par rounds and was recently named PING Second Team All-America.

Ghim posted five top-20 finishes during the season, including the four final tournaments of the season. He tied for seventh at the Lubbock Regional before closing the season with a team-best tie for eighth at the NCAA Championship. Ghim was named to the All-Big 12 First Team and was recently named PING All-America honorable mention.
