Texas preseason practices making players mentally and physically tough

“Chance favors the prepared mind” ~Louis Pasteur

The sun hits Texas relentlessly with temperatures that could reach 104. It’s a pressure cooker in Austin, Texas.

These days make for the perfect situation to forge steel, so Texas has practice, in pads, outside in the heat to test and refine the player’s and team’s mettle.

Coach Sarkisian commented after the conclusion of practice,

“Credit to our players. You know, they’re really exuding the mental toughness that’s needed to go along with the physical toughness needed. Especially now we’ve had three days now and uppers. And then tomorrow we get into full pads.

One live period tomorrow. We’ll get to tackle, which they always love to do the first day in full pads.”

Texas’ “big human” offensive line is considered the top in the country. Can they create a pocket for Quinn Ewers to enter?

Will Ewers be comfortable in the pocket? If he does, Ewers may beat Colt McCoy’s single season passing record of 3,859 (2008).

Last season (2023) Ewers had 3,479 passing yards, fifth All-Time at Texas.
