Texas Recruiting: Top Recruits in Town for Second Junior Day

Coming off the success of his first Junior Day at Texas, Coach Charlie Strong is looking to continue the positive momentum in the second and final event of the Spring. Much like the first Junior Day, there will be several top prospects in town today.

By the end of the first Junior Day, Coach Strong had secured [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] two commitments, jumped into serious contention for several other prospects and also secured the previous commitments  of two other prospects.

It is being reported by ESPN that the following players are in town today:

  • QB Nick Starkel, Argyle Liberty Christian (2016)
  • RB Derrius Guice, Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic

  • RB Kirk Johnson, San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian
  • RB Jatory Sparks-Brown, DeSoto
  • RB DeMarcus Smith, Beaumont West Brook
  • WR James Proche, Dallas Prime Prep
  • WR Jalen Guyton, Allen

Of the players listed above,  Derrius Guice (Baton Rouge, La./Catholic), James Lockhart (Ennis, Texas/Ennis), Conner Dyer (Mesquite, Texas/Horn), Bryce English (DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto) and J.W. Ketchum (Missouri City, Texas/Marshall) ESPN Junior 300 prospects

Both Dyer and Guyton are likely to receive offer letters, beyond that, it is hard to say. Most people expect there to be a lower number of offers from Coach Strong this time around.

One thing that we do know that that Texas isn’t expecting any commitments this time around … even from players who are offer candidates. So any verbal commitment would be a huge victory in the recruiting departments for Coach Charlie Strong.
