COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Cydney Billups scored in the seventh minute, but No. 22 Texas A&M responded with four unanswered goals to end the Longhorns’ season with a 4-1 loss Friday at Ellis Field.
The Longhorns [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)]ended their season with an 11-8-1 record. Texas A&M improved to 14-4-3.
The Longhorns made their third straight appearance in the NCAA tournament, and 14th overall.
Billups’ tally was her third goal of the season, and was scored off assists by midfielder Julia Grosso and forward Cameron Brooks.
The Longhorns and Aggies now have split two NCAA tournament games played in College Station.
The game was the Longhorns’ second loss this season in games in which they scored first.
Texas A&M outshot Texas, 27-17. The Longhorns were led by forward Cyera Hintzen, who had six shots, and midfielder Haley Berg, who had four.
Texas goalkeeper Savannah Madden registered nine saves in the loss.
