FORT WORTH, Texas — Micaya White and Logan Eggleston had 19 and 17 kills, respectively, to lead the No. 4 Texas volleyball team past TCU in five sets (25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 18-25, 15-12) Wednesday. The victory lifts UT to 9-4 overall, 4-0 against Big 12 opposition, while the Horned Frogs fall to 10-5 overall and 2-2 against Big 12 teams.

Ashley Shook directed the Texas offense, handing out 52 of UT’s 60 assists in the match. Eggleston and Brionne Butler led the UT defense with five blocks apiece, while Sydney Petersen led the Longhorns with three service aces and 23 digs.

The match could not have been more closely contested. The Longhorns, winners of four straight, got off to the start they wanted by winning the first two sets. TCU rallied to claim the third and fourth sets before UT responded with a three-set victory in the fifth and deciding set, which was decided on Eggleston’s 17th and final kill of the match.

The win gave Texas back-to-back victories away from home; before Wednesday’s victory in Fort Worth, the Longhorns swept West Virginia in Morgantown. UT will be back in action Saturday when Iowa State comes to Austin for a 6 p.m. match that can be seen on the Longhorn Network.
