The march to greatness continues for Texas Women’s Basketball. Today, as usual, Texas played suffocating defense holding Illinois to 48 pts, 6pts in the 2nd Qtr.
The final score 65-48 Texas.
Texas’ defense capitalized on Illinois 20 turnovers and scored 17 pts one those turnovers.
Here’s the interesting part. Texas shot only five three-point shots and missed every one. Their ability to penetrate and score in the paint accounted for 38 pts (>50% of their points)
The entire team was connected and they entered a flow that was unstoppable.
No. 35 Madison Booker game high scorer with 20pts, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
No. 32 Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda was games second high scorer with 19 pts, 6 rebounds, and 1 block.
No. 44 Taylor Jones dropped 12 pts, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 1 steal.
Texas advances to the SWEET 16 for the 19th time in program history and 4th time under head coach Vic Schaefer.
On Mar 29 (Sat) Texas faces Tennessee for the 2nd time this season. The first time Texas won 80-76, so it will be another close match.
In that match-up, Madison Booker scored 26pts, Taylor Jones hit 21pts and 14 rebounds.
March Madness is about to get real.
