IRVING, Texas — After hitting .400 and clubbing three home runs for the week, Texas third baseman Tres Barrera was named Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week.

His three home runs were part of a seven-RBI outburst over four games, helping the Longhorns take two of three from TCU, which entered the series ranked sixth in the country.

Barrera went deep Tuesday in UT’s 11-2 win over Texas-San Antonio, picking up his first home run of the year as one of his three hits in the game. He then hit a solo home run in Friday’s 2-0 win over TCU and then hit a two-run bomb in Saturday’s 9-5 loss to the Horned Frogs.

Texas hosts Lamar at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a game that will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.
