AUSTIN, Texas — With current and former athletes expected to compete in next month’s 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the athletic department at the University of Texas has created a page on its official website that allows Longhorn fans to keep track of all of the UT athletes who compete: texassports.com/rio.

The page will keep an updated roster of former and current Longhorns — both athletes and coaches — who have received and accepted an offer to take part in the Olympics for their home countries. The page also will feature a section detailing the history of Longhorn competitors and medalists, and a “newsstand” section about Texas athletes and coaches broken down by the sports in which they competed.

After the games start Aug. 5, the page will maintain a “Longhorns Medal Tracker” and a daily schedule of events in which UT-affiliated athletes and coaches compete (along with respective sport, country represented, time of competition, and television/web stream broadcast information).

The 2016 Summer Olympic Games will be held Aug. 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro.
