Texas with a .311 batting average, 197 runs, 14 triples and a school-record 139 stolen bases. In 2007, the Texas Hall of Honor inducted Murray as a member. For Murray, the highlight of his Texas career came during his junior year, when the Longhorns played in the College World Series. “I attended Texas assuming we’d make it to Omaha three years in a row,” Murray said, “but we didn’t make it the first two years. Making it to the World Series was special.”

A first round draft pick out of high school, Murray passed up a large Major League salary to develop as a player. He cherishes the decision to come to Texas because he met his wife while in college. Besides, he was drafted in the first round in 1992. A professional baseball player for 13 years, Murray played at the Major League level from 1999-2004, for the San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs.

Now retired, Murray puts his playing experience to good use as a player representative for the Scott Boras Corporation. “I continue to be a part of the game on a daily basis,” Murray said. “I enjoy guiding young players and their families through the draft process and helping them chase their big league dreams.”

Currently residing in Houston, Murray and his wife Kelli of 16 years have two beautiful daughters: Carly (11) and Kelsey (6). A self-proclaimed Fantasy Football fanatic, Murray enjoys watching NFL games on Sunday and playing golf in his free time.
